Bolbitis heudelotii is a slow-growing, elegant aquatic fern native to West Africa. It’s prized in aquascaping for its deep green, translucent fronds and natural, river-like appearance.

Light

  • Low to medium

  • Too much light can cause algae on leaves

  • pH: 5.5–7.0 preferred

  • Soft, slightly acidic water is ideal

  • Sensitive to very hard, alkaline water

Flow

  • Appreciates moderate water movement (naturally grows in flowing rivers)

🌱 Planting & placement

  • Do not bury the rhizome (it will rot)

  • Attach to rock or driftwood with thread or glue

  • Best placed in midground/background

  • Creates a beautiful “jungle river” look
