Why is nettle good for shrimp?
Nettle is a natural source of:
Vitamins (A, C, K, B2)
Minerals (iron, calcium, magnesium)
Fiber
Antioxidants
It helps support the immune system, promotes healthy molting, and can enhance the color and overall vitality of shrimp.
🧑🍳 How to feed nettle to shrimp?
Fresh leaves – blanch in boiling water for about 1 minute until soft (to remove stinging hairs), then cool before placing in the tank.
Dried nettle – crumble it or use whole dried leaves; it can be placed directly in the tank.
Homemade food – nettle can be mixed into shrimp food blends or used to make DIY shrimp sticks or gels.
✅ Nettle is usually eaten very quickly by shrimp, snails, and other plant-loving invertebrates.
⚠️ Note:
Always make sure the nettle is 100% organic, and not collected from roadsides or areas exposed to pesticides or pollution.
We guarantee natural and uncontaminated plants. Our nettle is hand-picked from pristine meadows in the heart of Snowdonia.
